trump-rejects-national-climate-assessment-dismissing-scientists

So, like, President Trump just totally let go of a bunch of scientists who were working on this big National Climate Assessment thing that Congress wanted. People are worried that now there’s gonna be a bunch of fake science filling up the gaps. Yikes, right?

The scientists were all working on this huge report about how the Earth is getting hotter and hotter, and it’s like a really big deal for lawmakers and stuff. It’s supposed to come out by 2028, and usually, there’s about 400 scientists who work on it. They’re like the top brains in universities and they do it for free. This report helps make rules about the environment, laws, and plans for building stuff. It’s like the go-to guide for how global warming is changing everything.

But then, out of nowhere, Trump’s administration was like, “Bye, scientists!” and they shut down all the work on the new report. They sent an email to the researchers saying they had to rethink the whole thing. No comment from the White House yet, though. Typical.

Climate scientists are super upset about this because the report helps regular people understand how climate change is affecting their lives. Rachel Cleetus, one of the scientists who got kicked out, said trying to hide the report won’t change the facts. She’s all like, “We need this info to protect our country from the dangers of climate change.” Preach, Rachel!

The White House budget dude, Russ Vought, wants to start over with a brand new team of researchers who will say that climate change isn’t a big deal. He thinks they can show how climate change is actually good for the U.S. What a joke, right? Like, who actually believes that?

Some of the scientists who got fired are still gonna keep working on the report somehow. Bob Kopp, who studies climate at Rutgers University, is one of them. He’s like, “We’re gonna make sure Americans get the real facts about climate change.” You go, Bob!

So, not really sure why this matters, but the Trump administration also cut funding for this program that helps with the report. It’s been around for 35 years, through both Republican and Democratic presidents. But I guess Trump just had to go and mess it all up.

It’s kinda sketchy that they want to find scientists who don’t really believe in climate change for the next report. Like, where are they gonna find these people? Are they just gonna make stuff up? Ugh, this whole situation is a mess.

But hey, at least some of the scientists are gonna keep fighting for the truth. Maybe there’s still hope for getting the real facts out there. Just gotta keep pushing, right?
